Mom's Chili

Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 cup onion (chopped)
- 2 garlic cloves (minced)
- 29 oz Muir Glen diced tomatoes (undrained)
- 16 oz salsa
- 15 oz tomato sauce
- 15 oz dark red kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
- 15 oz black beans (drained and rinsed)
- ½ cup water
- 2 Tbsp chili powder
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp dried oregano leaves
- 1 Jalapeno or Serrano pepper (minced)
Instructions
- In 4 quart pot cook beef an onion over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until beef is cooked.
- Drain beef, then add garlic. Cook and stir for 1 minute.
- Stir in all remaining ingredients and heat to boiling, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally until slightly thickened.
